The clothes looked a little bit of "old style", with the
length of the skirt and the gloves, and with the fabric
"behind" her, even her hairstyle is "old fashioned". I
wanted the piece to have a little bit of that "old style".
With the anemone-pattern of seedbeads and the heart,
key, and photo I think it looks like a match!

I'm fortunate to have lived through a few natural events,
Hurricane Hugo and the Northridge Earthquake to name
two.  However, when I visited the Mount St. Helen's
observatory commemorating the eruption in 1980, I was
struck by the overwhelming destruction and power
yielded by nature.  Charred trees, broken and shattered
stood upright, not only on the mountain, but for miles
around.  Hurricane Hugo left a similar devastation with the
trees shattered like match sticks but still upright.   From
of this devastation there was an eerie beauty and
vegetation is now growing that had been missing in those
areas for decades.  This model, and her dress remind me
in a literal sense of the charred trees, but also of the dark
beauty ever present in nature.  I tried to capture these
elements in my piece, Phoenix; the texture of the
shattered trees, the fire and passion that beauty inspires,
and the rebirth that springs from loss.

I was immediately drawn to this outfit because of the
dynamic colors. I love it's whimsical nature and flowing
swinging lines... it has movement!!! Contrast that with
several 'static' geometric elements and I was hooked. I
love working with deep vibrant colors so this was a fun
piece to create. I've included several elements of the
dress design into this cuff, the white and purple
accents... the triangular folds down the front of the dress
and the soft ruffles that border the cape.

I've captured all the contradictions in this outfit and
incorporated them into my piece, which I call 'HAUTE
PINK!!!' It's fun!!!

When I saw this beautiful dress, immediately it reminded
me of a tale....with princess and little fairies and
elves.....so I tried to recreate a necklace that maybe a
princess would have worn in her soiree.
The design is lacy, natural and the color is in tone with
the palette of the dress....I tried to reproduce the
structure of the skirt with the herringbone coils that climb
the spiral rope base of the necklace and I took inspiration
from the fabric of the under gown for the flowery design
that embellishes it.

This contest is a wonderful initiative ......... among all the
beautiful clothes, this is what inspired me most. A cross
between extravagance and elegance .......... my necklace
is not as extravagant, but remains popular in tone and
style. In my opinion, this match could very well dressed.

I love the color combination of grey/yellow/red-orange in
outfit #22. It's so dramatic, energetic, original,
eye-catching. I made a polymer cab using an imprint
technique I learned from Julie Picarello. I bezeled the cab
and used a few accent beads in grey and red, but did the
majority of the work in seed beads. I tried to also capture
the riotous use of texture and matte/shiny finishes by the
designer in this freeform peyote piece.

For me, this could be called "Obsession" because it has
always been with me ........... creating it with my hands,
and when I did it, it was always in my thoughts, preparing
for any possibility to make it possible for that perfect
dress. It was in my mind when I woke up in the morning
and was the last thing I thought before falling asleep
............... like a sweet obsession that gave me no
respite until I had finished my creation.

I chose the image number 322010 for inspiration. The
peacock motif truly inspired this creation. The repeated
diamond pattern, done in a wave gives an organic quality,
a free form quality, to the otherwise restrictive diamond
shape. The diamond is austere like the peacock and
elegant, yet when used in patterns can be as complex as
a display of peacock feathers. The dress on the model is
swimming in shimmering blues and greens and so multi
colored shimmering blue and green beads have small
touches of copper, and purples floating around. To
complete the formality of a night on the town a black
Swarovski crystal fringe with metallic black bugles
surrounds this piece. As the model decorates the dress, I
too have a model, decorating my piece of jewelry; a resin
covered pendant, hand made original artwork clipped
from a piece called spring sleeps I did a few years back.
For spring sleeps every year and wakes with the same
beauty as a peacock unfurling his feathers.

The sheer chiffon in orange with the delicate embroidered
pattern reminded me of sunrise and rebirth.  I choose colors
for this peyote stitch set in shades of crisp orange, metallic
copper, and metallic pinks with a light cream outline in the
diamond pattern. The center of the diamond is done in a
mother of pearl seed bead and over two hundred Swarovski
crystals  in firey orange, two-toned, and scarlet red, decorate
this piece. The bugles used reminded me of the shimmering
sunrise colors that softly paint the clouds like quick stroke of
watercolor on stretched wet paper, with a slight bleed. This
effect is mimicked by the way the sheer fabric drapes over the
softly walking model and you can just imagine her on a breezy
coastal beach, waking up with a journal in her hand, ready to
write about her latest journeys and sipping some freshly
squeezed orange juice. Sunrise is about a new beginning and a
rebirth; so I choose to hand paint a miniature for this piece(
based on an earlier drawing I had done called Begin Again) and
cover the painting in resin to create the pendant. The original
drawing was painted when I was carrying my second child as I
celebrated a new start to my life and hers. To be like the
sunrise is to begin again; everyday, without exception.

I have always been drawn to nature and color pallets that
occur naturally. Being one of my favorites, I already had many
of the beads I needed to complete a peacock inspired piece.
This beautiful dress offered so many options, but what most
inspired me was how the top of dress formed the shape of the
peacock tail. I wanted to go for a more realistic approach and
try my hand at forming a single feather. I went to the store
and bought several feathers to reference. I was surprised,
when I closely examined the feather, at just how many colors
were involved and how the colors changed under the light. I
decided to go with a metallic pallet, as it seemed to reflect the
light similar to the way the actual feather do. After several
attempts, my final piece was created using a German glass
cabochon in deep blue for the center of the eye. From there I
worked outward with Toho treasures creating the rest of the
eye. I used Czech beads, daggers, and cathedral beads to form
the fringe, or bottom portion of the feather. After much
consideration, I decided to do a simple collar in a right angle
weave, with matching Czech and drop beads. The closure is
created with a simple dichroic bead and seed bead loop.
